The Book of Kells

Leitura
The Book of Kells was created by Irish monks around the year 800 AD. It is believed to have been made on the island of Iona, off the coast of Scotland. Later, it was brought to Kells in County Meath for safekeeping. The book is considered one of the finest examples of medieval art in Europe. Its pages are decorated with complex patterns and bright colours. The manuscript has been displayed at Trinity College since the 17th century. Every year, it is visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists from around the world.
