Yesterday was a busy day at the office. In the morning, the boss said, "I am going to promote someone next month." Later, my colleague told me, "The boss said he was going to promote someone next month." At lunch, Maria said to John, "I have finished the report." John told me later, "Maria said she had finished the report." In the afternoon, the manager announced, "We will have a meeting on Friday." My friend whispered, "The manager said we would have a meeting on Friday." Someone also said, "The company might close the Birmingham office." Everyone was talking about it. Nobody knew if it was true.
