The verb "to be" is the most important verb in English. It is used to talk about identity, feelings, location, and descriptions. In British English, "to be" works the same way grammatically, but Brits use it in some unique expressions that you will hear every day!
For example, instead of "How are you?", you might hear "How are you doing?" (friendly) or even "You OK?" (concerned). When describing things, British people often use understatement: "It's not bad" can actually mean "It's excellent!"
